New Upcycling workshop comes to East Oxford

A new group has been set up in East Oxford to explore the new environmental trend of ‘upcycling’. Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. The group is run by ex-teacher and a well known local to the area Helen Osborn. She hopes to use the craft skills learnt as a teacher to help group members convert or improve unwanted materials.

Upcycling workshops will run on the 3rd Thursday of the month 6:30pm-9:30pm throughout 2012. Every session will have a demonstration of one upcycling idea or project. There will be 2 electric and 2 hand turned sewing machines available at every session. The sessions are held at Barracks Lane Community Garden informal and friendly and you can just drop-in. £5 per session, including refreshments.

For more information contact Helen Osborn, tel 01865 256 084 or 07950 608 249  or email Helenosbrn@aol.com.
